민화란 우리만의 모습으로, 우리만이 그려낸 우리의 그림입니다. 어수룩하고 어눌한 호랑이
그림에서 보듯 우리의 친밀한 정서와 배냇신앙을 담고 있는 그림입니다. 왕가의 화려한 병풍에서 허름한 민가 벽장문까지
일상적이고 폭넓게 자리잡은 우리 생활문화였습니다.
Minhwa reflects emotion and identity of Korean people, representing
our backbone-faith as we see naive tiger paintings. It ranges
from the scroll of King's palace to humble drawing for the populace
on national sympathetic zone.
민화는 한국인의 통과의례를 지켜온 산 증인입니다. 수복병풍 앞에서 백일상을 받고, 강륜문자도 앞에서 천자문을
외었으며, 쌍희도 병풍 앞에서 첫날밤을 밝히고, 늙어 노안도 앞에서 손주재롱을 보았으며, 생을 마무리하면서
모란병풍을 둘렀습니다. 넋이 되어 제사상을 받을 때도 감모여재도에 적힌 위패를 찾았습니다.
Minhwa witnessed Korean passage rituals. In between a hundred-day-old
baby party to the moment of death, through scooling, marriage
and peaceful old age, Minhwa accompanied Korean. Even spirits
of the dead found their mortuary tablet in Minhwa.
이제 우리의 전통유산인 민화를 체계적으로 수집, 연구, 전시하기 위하여 방랑시인 김삿갓의 묘역이 있는
계곡에 ‘조선민화박물관’을 세웁니다. 우리 조상들의 진솔한 삶이 배어 있는 훌륭한 문화유산을 보고 느끼는
교육의 장이 되기를 기대합니다.
Now, we're establishing Chosun Minhwa Museum in the valley
of the bohemian poet 'Bamboo hat Kim,' for the systematic
collection, research and display in an attempt to provide
an educational ground with wide latitude.
